Luke Bryan Breaks 27-Year Chart Record With New Song ‘Fast’
Fresh off his fifth year as co-host of the annual ACM Awards, Luke Bryan has made country music history.
The day following the ACM Awards, Bryan’s latest single “Fast” reached the top of Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart, making him the only artist in the chart’s 27-year existence to score six Number Ones from one album. That album is Bryan’s fifth full-length, Kill the Lights, which also contains chart-toppers “Kick the Dust Up,” “Strip It Down,” the Karen Fairchild duet “Home Alone Tonight,” “Huntin’, Fishin’, and Lovin’ Everyday” and “Move.”
“Fast” was co-written by Bryan with Rodney Clawson and Luke Laird, and now stands as the Georgia native’s 17th Billboard Number One overall (including his appearance on Jason Aldean’s “The Only Way I Know”). Kill the Lights was released in 2015 and has sold over 1.1 million copies to date.
Amazingly, Bryan actually broke his own record with this latest accomplishment. His previous album Crash My Party yielded five Number Ones, a record that he shared with Brad Paisley’s 2007 release 5th Gear and Blake Shelton’s 2013 blockbuster Based on a True Story.
Bryan will likely play a large swath of his Number Ones this summer on the Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day Tour, which gets underway with a pair of shows May 5th and 6th at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
