Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo Preps Second Japan-Only LP
Ahead of Weezer‘s upcoming new LP, Rivers Cuomo will release a second LP of Japanese-language music with his Scott & Rivers project.
Dubbed ニマイメ, the album is the second from Cuomo’s collaboration with Allister’s Scott Murphy; the duo previously released their self-titled debut LP in 2013. The album was a top seller thanks in part to Scott & Rivers’ breakout single “Homely Girl.”
ニマイメ is out April 12th exclusively in Japan, Pitchfork reports, although like Scott & Rivers, it might eventually receive a worldwide digital release.
The duo also shared the album’s bouncy single “Fun in the Sun (RIP SLYME),” a Japanese-language track that switches to English for the chorus “We got that fun in the sun,” a popular motif in Weezer‘s recent work; in March, the band premiered their upcoming album’s first single “Feels Like Summer,” which followed their California-themed 2016 White Album.
