Tom Petty, Mumford & Sons Top Inaugural Arroyo Seco Weekend
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mumford & Sons, Alabama Shakes and Weezer will headline the first Arroyo Seco Weekend. The new festival, organized by Coachella and Stagecoach promoter Goldenvoice, will take place June 24th and 25th in Pasadena, California at Brookside Park, next to the Rose Bowl.
The Arroyo Seco lineup also features the Shins, Dawes, Fitz and the Tantrums, Andrew Bird, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real, Charles Bradley, the Meters, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Broken Social Scene, John Mayall, Roy Ayers and more. The festival will also feature actor Jeff Goldblum and the jazz band he plays with nearly every week in Los Angeles. The lineup so far is available on the Arroyo Seco website, while additional artists will be announced in the future.
Tickets and passes for Arroyo Seco Weekend go on sale March 20th at 11 a.m. PT via the festival’s website. Single day general admission passes start at $125, while weekend passes start at $225. VIP packages are also available. Along with music, Arroyo Seco will feature food from various restaurants around Los Angeles.
For Petty and the Heartbreakers, the Arroyo Seco Weekend appearance comes in the middle of the group’s massive 40th anniversary tour, which begins April 20th in Oklahoma City. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Petty suggested the trek could be the group’s last major tour.
“It’s very likely we’ll keep playing, but will we take on 50 shows in one tour? I don’t think so,” Petty said. “I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was thinking this might be the last big one. We’re all on the backside of our sixties. I have a granddaughter now I’d like to see as much as I can. I don’t want to spend my life on the road. This tour will take me away for four months. With a little kid, that’s a lot of time.”
