Watch Against Me!’s Kaleidoscopic ‘Haunting, Haunted, Haunts’ Video
Against Me! released a kaleidoscopic, animated video for “Haunting, Haunted, Haunts,” a visceral track from the punk-rock quartet’s seventh album, Shape Shift With Me.
Director Margherita Ballarin, who previously helmed the band’s clip for “Two Coffins,” translates singer Laura Jane Grace‘s angst into objects like flowers, skulls, flames and tumbling dominos. Then, just before James Bowman’s snarling guitar solo, Ballarin transports viewers through a psychedelic, spiraling tunnel.
Against Me! is currently touring behind Shape Shift With Me, with headlining dates scheduled between supporting slots for Green Day. The band’s next show is Wednesday, March 8th in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
In November, Grace released a memoir, Tranny: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout, chronicling her music career, battles with gender dysphoria and coming out as transgender.
“I hate that word; I definitely don’t identify with that word; I don’t like hearing it used for other people,” Grace said of the slur “tranny” in an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers. “It’s almost mentally taxing to look at my book in ways, but it captures a lot of what the book is about. And a lot of what the book is about is internalized transphobia and self-hate and that’s an experience that I had and I went through.”
