See Frankie Ballard’s Reverent Bob Seger Tribute
During a recent visit to The Blair Garner Show, Frankie Ballard showed off his classic rock chops and Midwestern roots by playing a pair of Bob Seger tunes.
On the radio program, Ballard deftly shifts between the 1980 Against the Wind track “You’ll Accomp’ny Me” – which Ballard covered on his 2016 album El Rio – and the Nine Tonight classic “Night Moves,” folding the latter into the middle of “You’ll Accomp’ny Me.”
The country star is a noted Seger fan, telling Rolling Stone Country of a recording session in 2015, “We went to Muscle Shoals Sound to rehearse. We loaded into that old studio where all that music was made, the Bob Seger music that I love so much, and the Rolling Stones’ ‘Brown Sugar.’ All that stuff was cut right there.”
You might want to thank Ballard, too, for putting some Seger music out into the digital world – as NPR recently reported, the rocker’s albums (aside from the 2014’s Ride Out and a couple anthologies) aren’t available on streaming or digital download services.
Ballard is currently on tour through the summer, with a stop planned for tonight (April 5th) at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California.
