Tim McGraw and Faith Hill Plan New Song, Duets Album
With the third reboot of their record-breaking Soul2Soul Tour kicking off April 7th, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have begun announcing more collaborative plans.
Yesterday, the power couple unveiled the upcoming release of a new song, “Speak to a Girl.” The track hits the radio airwaves on Thursday morning, doubling as the first single from a new album of duets. Although McGraw and Hill have sung together since 1997, when the newlyweds turned “It’s Your Love” into a crossover hit, they’ve never recorded a full album together. The still-untitled project is due out later this year via Sony Music, with the singers sharing the spotlight equally. Last month, McGraw and Hill both signed separate contracts with Sony, paving the way for future releases – including solo albums – on the label.
Days after its radio debut, “Speak to a Girl” will make its prime-time premiere at the ACM Awards on Sunday, April 2nd. The song will hit the road less than a week later, making nightly appearances during McGraw and Hill’s seven-month tour. First launched in 2000, the Soul2Soul Tour has turned into a recurring event for the couple, with the tour’s second iteration – a 118-show juggernaut that ran from April 2006 to September 2007 – shattering Garth Brooks’ previous record as the highest-grossing tour in country music history.
“Speak to a Girl” was written by Shy Carter (Billy Currington’s “It Don’t Hurt Like it Used To,” Sugarland’s “Stuck Like Glue”), Scottish singer-songwriter Dave Gibson (Mary J. Blige, Bruno Mars) and Joe Spargur (Thomas Rhett’s “Die a Happy Man,” Jason Derulo’s “Wiggle”). Although McGraw and Hill didn’t write their new song, they did co-produce it, sharing those duties with longtime collaborator Byron Gallimore.
