Watch Guitar Slinger Ryan Kinder’s Serendipitous ‘Close’ Video
“I always believe there is a reason for every single thing,” says Ryan Kinder at the opening of his new video for “Close,” shot in Nashville. In the clip, it’s a spilled coffee cup that transforms from clumsy accident to romantic catalyst, reuniting a member of Kinder’s crew with an old amour outside of local venue Exit/In. Part Before Sunrise, Southern style, part live footage, it brings to life a song that celebrates love’s fleeting moments and showcases Kinder’s unique breed of country, which swaps soulful runs for twangy breaks and spotlights his rock-driven, self-taught guitar licks.
“I grew up watching my heroes and dreaming one day to have a music video just like them,” Kinder tells Rolling Stone Country. “The day has finally come and I am so unbelievably excited. Patrick Tracy knocked this one out of the park. I am proud to have him as the director on this and eager to have friends, family and fans see what we’ve been working on.”
Co-written with Jeremey Stover and Lindsay Rimes, “Close” is a preview of what’s to come on the Alabamian’s new LP for Warner Music Nashville, which will be produced by Ross Copperman and Paul Worley. Kinder is on the road this spring, and has previously toured with Zac Brown, Brandy Clark and Jennifer Nettles. He counts Keith Urban as one of his biggest influences. “I have absolutely ripped apart everything Keith Urban has done,” he says. “The second I started playing it just blew my mind, I was passionately in love.”
