See Chris Janson’s Sweaty New Song ‘Everybody’ From Nashville Concert
“Nobody wants to make love no more, everybody just wants to get laid!” With that PG-13 punchline, Chris Janson launches into the singalong chorus of “Everybody,” a new song that will presumably appear on the singer’s follow-up to his 2015 debut album, Buy Me a Boat.
Filmed as part of an Audience Network concert special last Halloween that premieres March 24th, the song’s live performance finds a sweaty, smiling Janson debuting the song at the Stage, a cozy honky-tonk in downtown Nashville. Backed by four-piece band – including nimble South Carolina guitarist Chalmers Croft – Janson keeps things limber and lighthearted, crisscrossing the stage throughout the song and miming the song’s lyrics.
“‘Everybody’ is a song for everybody,” explains Janson, who hits the road with Sam Hunt this summer on Hunt’s 15 in a 30 Tour. “These lyrics are timely for the world we live in. I wrote it with a big smile on my face, and it’s my hope that people smile and laugh when they hear it, too. I love this song. It’s a true story.”
With a new album on the horizon, Janson has been tossing more unfamiliar songs into his nightly set lists. On Tuesday night, he premiered the new anthem “Our World” during a performance on the Grand Ole Opry, the centerpiece of a riveting three-song set that included the Number One “Buy Me a Boat” and the Chuck Berry rave-up “The Redneck Life.”
Janson’s Audience Network special airs Friday at 9:00 p.m./ET on DirecTV and U-verse (DirecTV Ch 239/U-Verse Ch 1114), and DirecTVnow.
