Hank Williams Jr. Plots 2017 Summer Tour
Now more than five decades into his recording career, Hank Williams Jr. doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. The 67-year-old singer had a busy year in 2016, releasing a new record and touring in support of it with Chris Stapleton. Now he’s getting ready to ramp up the schedule with a new set of expanded tour dates for summer.
Williams announced a handful of shows back in January, but has only played one show so far this year. His itinerary has now been more than doubled, starting with an April 20th appearance at the PGA Tour Champions Bass Pro Shop’s Legends of Golf Tournament in Ridgedale, Missouri. Several of the new dates in July and August will see Williams co-headlining with fellow Southern men Lynyrd Skynyrd, with one of them – the Coastal Credit Union Music Park show in Raleigh, North Carolina on August 12th – also featuring Staind frontman Aaron Lewis.
The Grammy winner’s outspoken ways haven’t hurt his commercial performance in recent years, as 2016’s It’s About Time entered the country charts at Number Two, the highest of any of his 37 albums, and cracked the top 10 of Billboard‘s Hot 100. Williams has also remained a big draw alongside some of country’s younger stars, as evidenced by his run of shows with Stapleton last year.
