See Keith Urban’s New Stylized ‘Dancers Version’ of ‘The Fighter’ Video
The original video for Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood‘s duet “The Fighter” featured an impressive dance sequence from a lone female dancer. Now, Urban has shared an alternate version of the clip that hews closer to the track’s duet sensibilities by incorporating another dancer.
In the new production, dancer Lyle Beniga joins the video’s original dancer (and Beniga’s girlfriend), Lindsay Richardson. While there’s no images of Urban or Underwood, the focus on the dancers, who trade moves while walking down dimly lit streets, makes for a compelling visual.
In a Facebook post, Urban explains the decision to release the updated video. “The idea was that we’d just do this incredible dance for the song and we would edit it and then Carrie and I would perform and put it all together. When we put it all together, we found that it worked great with Lindsay dancing, but every time the two of them were together, Lindsay and Lyle, you just wanted to see them for the whole video,” he says. “So we decided we would shoot a video with just the two of them from beginning to end.”
Urban and Underwood performed the song off his Ripcord album at the ACM Awards, following a solo performance by Urban of his nominated song “Blue Ain’t Your Color.”
