Watch Freddie Gibbs Wander Desert in ‘Crushed Glass’ Video
Freddie Gibbs unveiled his video for “Crushed Glass,” the rapper’s first new song since his acquittal on sexual assault charges in September 2016.
In the video, the rapper wakes up disoriented in the middle of the desert, where he spends the bulk of the video aimlessly walking. Quick cuts at the start of the video hint at some drug activity Gibbs was engaging in, and by the end of “Crushed Glass,” it’s revealed his desert sojourn is just a dream he’s having while incarcerated alone behind bars.
The rapper also hints at his ordeal in 2016 – where he spent four months in an Austrian jail while facing rape charges – with lyrics like “I just beat a rape case/ Groupie bitch I never fucked/ Tried to give me 10 for some pussy that I never touched … Been around the world jail system like a slave trade/ Nigga got me in this foreign prison like a monkey in a cage.”
“Crushed Glass” is the first single off Gibbs’ upcoming You Only Live 2wice, the follow-up to 2015’s Shadow of the Doubt. The album arrives March 31st.
