Hear Angel Olsen Cover Connie Francis on ‘Man In the High Castle’ Album
Angel Olsen performed a somber rendition of the Tin Pan Alley classic, “Who’s Sorry Now?” for the soundtrack to Amazon’s alternate-history series, The Man In the High Castle.
With the show set in 1962, the soundtrack boasts a variety of era-specific covers and Olsen tackles Connie Francis’ 1958 rendition of “Who’s Sorry Now?” Olsen expertly recreates the sad, swinging piano and guitar of Francis’ cover, with a nostalgia-inducing blend of reverb and static.
Danger Mouse and producer Sam Cohen assembled soundtrack, Resistance Radio: The Man In the High Castle Album, imagining an underground radio station broadcasting from an American neutral zone in the show’s universe where the Germans and Japanese control the East and West Coasts of the U.S. after winning World War II.
Along with Olsen’s rendition of “Who’s Sorry Now?” Resistance Radio features Sharon Van Etten covering “The End of the World,” made popular by Skeeter Davis. Other contributors include Beck, the Shins, Grandaddy, Kevin Morby, Norah Jones, Karen O and MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden. Resistance Radio is available to preview on a website for the album before it arrives April 7th.
Olsen released her most recent album, My Woman, in 2016.
