Alec Baldwin Plans Satirical Donald Trump Book
Alec Baldwin will take his Trump-trashing ways from the small screen to the written word with a new book that takes a satirical look at the 45th president’s first year in the Oval Office.
The actor, who caricatures Trump on Saturday Night Live, will team with co-writer Kurt Andersen on You Can’t Spell America Without Me: The Really Tremendous Inside Story of My Fantastic First Year as President Donald J. Trump, Penguin Press announced Wednesday.
The book is due out November 7th, nearly a year after Trump’s Election Day win. Baldwin will read the audiobook as Trump, the New York Times reports.
“I think it’s fair to say that Kurt will do most of the writing,” Baldwin told the newspaper. “We have that arrangement whereby he doesn’t put on the wig, I don’t open up a Word document.”
As for how writing a parody book from Trump’s perspective differs from an SNL cold open, Andersen said, “I think we’ll be channeling and amplifying the real Trump. Writing for a five- or 10-minute sketch is different than writing a book, which has to be a narrative.”
Before You Can’t Spell America Without Me arrives, Baldwin will release his own memoir, titled Nevertheless, in April.
