Watch the xx’s Nostalgic ‘Say Something Loving’ Video
The xx embrace young love in London in the endearing new video for “Say Something Loving.” The Alasdair McLellan-directed clip mixes footage of the band performing with shots of teenagers playing arcade games, idling on the bus, dancing in the club and, for good measure – making out.
“We wanted to celebrate our home town and revisit some of the places that reminds us of our friendship when we were growing up,” the xx said of the video (per Pitchfork).
The xx released I See You in January, marking their first album since 2012’s Coexist. In an interview with Rolling Stone, singer/guitarist Madley Croft noted the album’s mainstream, pop sensibility and how making it differed from the band’s process on Coexist and their self-titled debut. “On this album, we all thought, ‘Let’s stop worrying. Let’s just make music,'” she said. “There’s this liberating feeling of playing what sounds good, what we like.”
The xx will embark on a North American tour this spring, starting April 14th with a set at Coachella.
