See T.I., Ice-T’s Seething Mash-Up on ‘Kimmel’
T.I. and Ice-T traded verses on the latest installment of “Mash-Up Mondays” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Performing as “Ice-T.I.” the pair combined Ice-T’s 1991 track, “O.G. Original Gangster” and T.I.‘s 2004 hit, “Bring Em Out.”
Ice-T opened the performance with a blistering introduction, but quickly ceded the stage to T.I., who spit the opening verse of “Bring Em Out” seamlessly over the funky old school groove of “O.G.” Ice-T then wove the silky bars of “O.G.” through the hard-hitting “Bring Em Out” beat, while T.I. sat back in a chair on stage and enjoyed the show. The performance ended with both rappers reclaiming their original beats and firing off one more verse.
Last week, Kimmel welcomed OK Go and the Go-Go’s, who performed “Here It Goes Again” and “Our Lips Are Sealed,” while the latest slate of “Mash-Up Mondays” opened with Lady Antebellum and Bell Biv Devoe combining “Need You Now” and “Poison.” A musical duo for next week, March 27th, has yet to be announced.
T.I. released a handful of projects in 2016, including an EP Us or Else, which he later expanded into a full-length, Us Or Else: Letter to the System. Ice-T, meanwhile, is working on a new record with his metal outfit, Body Count, which is expected to arrive this year.
