See John Mellencamp, Darius Rucker’s Fiery ‘Pink Houses’ on ‘Crossroads’
2017 is shaping up to be a big year for John Mellencamp. The heartland rock hitmaker is going full-on country and Americana this year with his upcoming new album Sad Clowns & Hillbillies, which will be released April 28th and prominently features Carlene Carter. Mellencamp also recently recorded an episode of CMT Crossroads with Darius Rucker, and today Rolling Stone Country has an exclusive of the two duetting on Mellencamp’s 1983 hit “Pink Houses.”
Rucker, who knows a thing or two about the rock-to-country-singer crossover, picks up the first verse before he and Mellencamp hand things off back and forth. The sleeper highlight may come with the extended fiddle solo before the closing verse.
Mellencamp and Rucker’s Crossroads episode airs Friday, March 24th on CMT. Mellencamp and Carter hit the road for a 22-date tour starting June 5th.
