CRS 2017: Chris Stapleton, Maren Morris Highlight Annual Radio Event
Country Radio Seminar, the annual gathering in Nashville of DJs, programmers and radio executives, wrapped up this past weekend with a week of concerts and special events.
CRS, as the convention is known, featured performances throughout Music City by both veteran and new artists alike. “Hurricane” singer Luke Combs wowed fans at the Stage honky-tonk on Broadway at the beginning of the week, proving that the young singer will be one to watch in 2017.
Later that same night, smooth duo Dan + Shay captivated a sold-out crowd at the Ryman Auditorium, singing hits like “From the Ground Up” and a rocking cover of Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name” that showed off singer Shay Mooney’s versatile voice.
And superstars like Jason Aldean and Trace Adkins showcased their latest efforts during a label event at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
But the action wasn’t only limited to the nighttime hours. A special showcase on Thursday afternoon at the Ryman was an undeniable highlight of CRS, as Chris Stapleton and Vince Gill joined Keith Urban on a guitar-heavy jam of his hit “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” Stapleton, who will release a new album on May 5th, also performed the new song “Broken Halos.”
Finally, CRS wrapped up with the centerpiece New Faces concert, highlighting a select five artists that are poised to have big years: Maren Morris, Jon Pardi, William Michael Morgan, Drake White and Granger Smith.
