Watch Marty Stuart’s Trippy ‘Way Out West’ Video
Country legend Marty Stuart has shared a new music video for the trippy title track from his forthcoming album, Way Out West.
The black-and-white clip features a dizzying array of both performance footage and shots of California’s Mojave Desert, a region close to Stuart’s heart that inspired the bulk of the album’s material. The hallucinatory imagery is the perfect accompaniment to the song’s lyrics, like opening line, “Well I took a little green pill in Morenci, Arizona on my way out to sunny California.”
Earlier this month, Stuart shared the album’s first track, “Whole Lotta Highway (With a Million Miles to Go)” with Rolling Stone Country. He produced the album with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell, recording at Campbell’s California studio and Capitol Studios with Stuart’s band the Fabulous Superlatives. Way Out West is Stuart’s 18th studio album and his first release since 2014’s two-disc offering Saturday Night/Sunday Morning.
