In his speech, which is expected to last over an hour, the president will seek to highlight the issues he’s made a priority in his first two months in office, like the recent crackdown on illegal immigration. Three family members of Americans killed by undocumented immigrants will attend the event as Trump’s guests, sitting with Melania Trump in the First Lady’s box.
White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller, author of Trump’s Republican National Convention speech and his inaugural address and one of the key figures behind the disastrous travel ban, wrote the majority. (A revised version of the contentious executive order is expected to debut tomorrow.) Former Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear will deliver the Democrats’ response.
