Father John Misty Plots Short North American Tour
Father John Misty will play a handful of North American concerts this spring in support of his new album, Pure Comedy.
The short trek kicks off April 12th at Humphrey’s in San Diego, California and includes stops in Toronto, Brooklyn and Chicago before wrapping June 7th at the Metropolitan Theatre in Mexico City. The trek also includes previously announced festival appearances at Coachella and FORM Arcosanti in Mayer, Arizona. The singer-songwriter also has a handful of European dates scheduled in March as well as various international festival dates during the summer.
Father John Misty will release Pure Comedy April 7th via Sub Pop. The album follows his 2015 effort, I Love You, Honeybear, and features arrangements from composer Gavin Bryars and contributions from Nico Muhly and Thomas Bartlett. So far, mastermind Josh Tillman has released three songs – “Pure Comedy,” “Two Wildly Different Perspectives” and “Ballad of the Dying Man” – and premiered “Leaving L.A.” during a BBC session. He’s also unveiled a Pure Comedy short film and an essay about the album.
Father John Misty will perform on Saturday Night Live March 4th.
