Watch ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ Parody Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt hyped its upcoming third season with the inimitable Titus Andromedon (played by Titus Burgess) parodying Beyoncé‘s “Hold Up” video. The Netflix comedy returns with new episodes on May 19th.
Andromedon struts down the street in yellow outfit similar to the singer’s Roberto Cavalli dress from her Lemonade HBO special, swinging a baseball bat at a fire hydrant and boyfriend Mikey’s (Mike Carlsen) truck. “Kimberly, use your key – I’m Lemonade-ing,” he tells his roommate, who interrupts by knocking on the door.
Along with promoting the show, the teaser celebrates Beyoncé’s Sunday night domination at the 2017 Grammy Awards. In her first live appearance first announcing she’s pregnant with twins, the singer unleashed an epic, surreal medley of “Love Drought” and “Sandcastles.”
Beyoncé earned nine total nominations for Lemonade during the ceremony, taking home two awards: Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Music Video (“Formation”). In her acceptance speech for the former, the R&B-pop icon said she created the LP to “create a body of work that would give a voice to our pain, our struggles, our darkness and our history – to confront issues that make us uncomfortable.”
