One of the few songs on Urban’s Grammy-nominated Ripcord LP not written by the artist, “Blue Ain’t Your Color” was penned by Steven Lee Olsen, Hillary Lindsey and Clint Lagerberg. Urban tells Rolling Stone Country, “[It] is a song that I felt immediately. It’s just magic. If those songwriters could do it, they would write a song like that every day, of course. Craft and skill only come so far; the rest is pure magic.”
Urban is nominated for seven ACM awards, with “Blue Ain’t Your Color” earning nods for Single and Song of the Year and the singer capturing his first Entertainer of the Year nomination since 2010. Chris Stapleton is also a multiple nominee, up for Male Vocalist, Song (“Tennessee Whiskey”) and Video of the Year (“Fire Away”).
