Watch Wale’s Extended New ‘Groundhog Day’ Video
Wale has unveiled his new video for “Groundhog Day,” fittingly on the same day Punxsutawney Phil has revealed winter will last six more weeks. The eight-minute-plus clip features an extended version of Wale’s apparent response track to J. Cole’s “False Prophets.”
The video opens with a series of media snippets that address some of the rapper’s past issues before the MC is seen rapping on top of a double decker bus in Los Angeles. The sun-kissed scenes find the rapper strolling down the Hollywood Walk of Fame, chatting up fans and posing for photos.
After the first section of the clip, which follows the original version of the song, the words “Shut the fuck up” and “Listen” flash across the screen, before colorful static-laced imagery takes over for the remainder of the video. The rapper addresses his daughter and reflects on his career for the extended version of the song.
Though Wale has not yet revealed the release date for his forthcoming S.H.I.N.E., he has recently unveiled new songs. In December, he dropped the song “Groundhog Day” and released the video for “Folarin Like.”
