See Dawes’ Harmony-Rich ‘When My Time Comes’ on ‘Front and Center’
Dawes may have reminded us that We’re All Gonna Die on their fifth LP, but the Los Angeles-based quartet have been thinking about the end of things since the breakout anthem from their 2009 debut North Hills, “When My Time Comes.” Live, it’s the ultimate chant-along, and an early showcase of singer and songwriter Taylor Goldsmith’s astute and detailed lyricism. So when the band taped an appearance for PBS’ Front and Center at New York’s Iridium this past August, they made sure to play a version accented with their signature harmonies, slide guitar and plenty of audience participation. (Watch the video above.)
After kicking off their An Evening With Dawes Tour in January, the band is the road through spring, playing 50 dates in total with two sets each night. The first four of those nights were recently compiled into We’re All Gonna Live, a live album of material from the tour that was mixed and mastered in only 15 days – a logical step for a band with a notorious dedication to the stage over studio. The video for their newest single, “Roll With the Punches,” starring Mandy Moore, also debuted this week.
Dawes’ next stop is San Francisco’s legendary Fillmore on February 21st. Their episode of Front and Center begins airing on public television that same day (check your local listings).
