Hear Josh Turner Nod to the Nineties in New Song ‘Deep South’
Josh Turner sings about the many and varied pleasures of his Southern home on the breezy title track from his new album Deep South.
“You say you’re from the planet where the tea ain’t sweet / you’ve never seen a chicken fried,” sings the South Carolina native, supported by chicken-picked Telecaster and a stuttering drum pattern. In this vision Southern pride, Turner invites an outsider to come experience the place with its many traditions constructed around food, family and faith. True to Turner’s more traditional leanings, “Deep South” echoes the heyday of Nineties country in its defiant strut.
Deep South, which will be released March 10th, also includes Turner’s current single “Hometown Girl” as well as his previous release “Lay Low.” Next up, the singer heads west to Texas for a February 24th show in Edinburg and one in San Antonio on February 25th.
