Hear Mariah Carey, YG’s Sultry New Song ‘I Don’t’
Mariah Carey debuted a smooth new R&B song “I Don’t” featuring YG. The single is first since last year’s “Infinity,” which was released as part of her #1 to Infinity compilation.
Above snare rolls and a liquid bass line, Carey belts out her relationship woes. “Boy I was buggin’/ Thinkin’ somehow I can trust ya/ But you don’t mean nothing/ ‘Cause I don’t, I don’t.” YG semi-sings his part as the bad, misunderstood boyfriend. “You need to understand me/But you love it when I call you Ms. Carey,” he repeats throughout the song.
Carey has not said whether “I Don’t” is the beginning of a new album launch. She released her 14th album — Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse — in 2014. She launched her Las Vegas residency the year following and toured Europe for the first time in 13 years. In December, her E! docu-series Mariah’s World debuted. The show followed her European tour as well as her efforts to plan a wedding to her now ex-fiancé James Packer. This year, she’ll be touring with Lionel Richie.
