Sturgill Simpson Plots 2017 U.S. Tour
In the midst of what’s already shaping up to be a big 2017 for Sturgill Simpson, the singer-songwriter just announced a string of new United States tour dates.
Kicking off March 4th at Florida’s Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival, Simpson will trek across the U.S. through early October, hitting a handful of other multi-artist events like Louisville’s Forecastle Festival and Birmingham’s Sloss Music and Arts Festival as well as headlining solo theater dates. He’ll also head to Japan for a one-off festival date at the end of July.
Simpson made his Saturday Night Live debut earlier this month, performing “Keep It Between the Lines” and “Call to Arms” on the January 14th episode.
At this weekend’s Grammy Awards, Simpson is nominated in two categories, Album of the Year and Best Country Album for his 2016 release A Sailor’s Guide to Earth. Simpson is also slated to perform during the Grammy telecast, which will air live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center Sunday, February 12th at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
