Watch Green Day Rock Out With Disabled Fan in London
Green Day invited a disabled fan to play with the band onstage during the punk outfit’s gig in London Wednesday.
While the band vamped on their cover of Operation Ivy’s “Knowledge,” Billie Joe Armstrong scoured the crowd for a guest guitarist, eventually spotting a woman named Rachel, who took the stage and breezed through the rest of the song alongside Green Day. Afterwards, Armstrong gifted her his guitar as well.
Wednesday’s show in London closed out the European leg of Green Day’s tour in support of Revolution Radio. The group is scheduled to kick off another string of North American dates March 1st at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.
Green Day released Revolution Radio last October, their 12th LP overall and first since since their 2012 trilogy ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré!. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Armstrong spoke about the differences between the trilogy and Revolution Radio, saying, “Yeah, I think you just go into the unknown. ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré! was very much like a writing machine and just kept going no matter what. Even to the point we’re forcing the material. And this time it’s just the exact opposite and just sort of let life roll out and then see what happens.”
