Kings of Leon Expand 2017 North American Tour
Kings of Leon expanded their 2017 North American tour, adding 25 new dates. The trek’s second leg, promoting the band’s recent LP, Walls, will launch April 28th in Chula Vista, California and wind down August 26th in Quincy, Washington.
Acclaimed indie-rock act Deerhunter will open the April and May dates, and folk-R&B singer-songwriter Nathaniel Rateliff will join the July and August shows. General on-sale tickets will be available for most cities beginning Saturday, February 4th.
Kings of Leon released Walls, their seventh album, in October. It became their first Number One LP in the U.S., topping the Billboard 200. But as drummer Nathan Followill explained to Rolling Stone, the band didn’t strain for massive sales during the writing process.
“We learned our lesson early on after our really big record [2008’s Only By the Night and its hit “Use Somebody”],” he said. “You put so much pressure on yourself after that – to at least maintain that momentum you’ve got going — and we really had a shitty time in the studio trying to do that. Trying to chase a hit or trying to recreate success you had on previous things. So going into this record we had the frame of mind of no pressure to recreate any success we’ve had prior to this.”
