‘Broad City’ Comedians Prepare for Disaster in Inauguration Day Short
Broad City‘s Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer are in full survivalist mode before Donald Trump’s inauguration. In a short video broadcast minutes before the swearing-in ceremony called “Inauguration Uncensored,” the comedians prepare for the worst.
“People are just gonna be grabbin’ shit! We’re gonna have to wear cups now! People are just gonna be peeing on other people now,” Jacobson laments. “I’m foaming at the mouth now.”
Invoking the frantic vibe of doomsday films, the duo – with Jacobson trapped in her elevator as hell is about to break loose – communicate over FaceTime before the disaster strikes. “Along the way, if you can loot batteries and food, I kinda forgot batteries and food,” Glazer asks Jacobson.
A moment of silence fills the scene as both women receive a text update alerting them that Trump is now president, which results in both going on an expletive-filled rant where Trump’s name is bleeped but little else is censored. When it turns out the world hasn’t ended upon Trump’s swearing-in, the duo resign themselves to doing what they can in these dark times: Hanging out with friends and “Google how to Google our local representatives.”
The new season of Broad City arrives summer 2017 … if there is a summer 2017.
