Garth Brooks, Tanya Tucker Sing for Randy Travis at Moving Tribute Show
Randy Travis was the guest of honor during Wednesday night’s “1 Night. 1 Place. 1 Time. A Heroes and Friends Tribute to Randy Travis” concert. Held at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, the show featured Garth Brooks, Tanya Tucker, Chris Janson, Chris Young, Alabama and more performing some of Travis’s most well-known songs.
Among the highlights: Alison Krauss and Jamey Johnson delivered an ethereal “Deeper Than the Holler”; Janson offered an understated but hypnotic “Look Heart, No Hands”; and Tucker sang a dazzling “I Told You So.”
Another of Travis’s biggest fans, Josh Turner moved the crowd with an amazing rendition of “Three Wooden Crosses.” But it was Garth Brooks who capped the night, appearing in a black baseball hat and workshirt to sing “Forever and Ever, Amen.” The finale included the entire cast, Travis among them, singing “Amazing Grace.”
Travis, who was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in October, suffered a near fatal stroke in 2013, but has made great progress in his recovery. He was on hand for his Hall induction ceremony and appeared in the opening of the 50th CMA Awards last November.
