Watch Flying Lotus’ Disturbing ‘Kuso’ Trailer
Flying Lotus unveiled the trailer for his directorial debut Kuso ahead of the offbeat horror film’s premiere Saturday during the Sundance Film Festival’s Midnight slate. The film is a nightmarish, abstract view of Los Angeles in the aftermath of its “worst” earthquake, according to the official synopsis.
The trailer doesn’t reveal much about the film’s plot, but the minute-long look showcases the producer’s (real name: Steven Ellison) sharp compositional eye over the course of a series of disturbing – or “stomach-churning” as Ellison himself touted – images.
The trailer also features quick glimpses of some of Kuso‘s stars, including funk overlord and FlyLo collaborator George Clinton and comedians Tim Heidecker and Hannibal Buress. The film also promises music by Aphex Twin, Flying Lotus and Ellison’s Brainfeeder labelmates like Kamasi Washington and Thundercat.
Kuso was listed as one of Rolling Stone‘s 25 Movies We Can’t Wait to See at Sundance 2017.
