Watch U2 Offer Private Concert, Make Song Puns in Charity Promo Video
U2 are offering two fans front-row seats at a private band rehearsal by donating to Omaze and (RED)’s second-annual (Shopathon) campaign, which fights HIV/AIDS through contributions across the world. Bono and the Edge hyped the unique giveaway in a goofy promo video, which references a handful of classic U2 song titles.
“We are teaming up with Omaze to give you the chance to win U2 playing just for you,” Bono says to introduce the clip, with the Edge interjecting, “With or without you.” From there, the guitarist continuously interrupts his bandmate, smiling as he name-drops “I Will Follow,” “Even Better Than the Real Thing,” “Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own,” “Desire,” “One” and “Stuck In a Moment You Can’t Get Out Of.”
As part of the VIP experience, the winner and a friend will be flown out to a private dress rehearsal performance and lodged at a four-star hotel. Contributing more donations to the (RED) campaign offers more entries to win. Specific entry tiers also unlock perks like T-shirts (1,000 entries) and signed U2 vinyl (150,000 entries).
Other celebrities offering donation experiences include Neil Patrick Harris, DJ Khaled, The Late Late Show With James Corden, Liam Payne and Channing Tatum.
Funds donated to the (Shopathon) campaign will benefit (RED)’s fight against AIDS with life-saving ARV pills that prevent HIV-positive mothers from passing the virus to their unborn babies. (RED) has received donations from 141 countries across 10 campaigns.
