Mountain Goats, Toro y Moi Join ‘Our First 100 Days’ Trump Protest
The Mountain Goats, Toro y Moi, Angel Olsen, Whitney and more will participate in a new song series, Our First 100 Days, which supports causes threatened by the incoming Trump administration.
“Not only is it a collection of great music, it is the music community coming together, supporting many important organizations who will be the first line of defense against the policies of the new administration,” said Phil Waldorf, executive of Secretly Group, which organized the series. “We hope that people not only love the music and discover some new things with this collection, but they see it as an easy way to make a contribution to a cross section of organizations that need the support right now.”
The campaign will release a new song each day over the course of Donald Trump’s first 100 days in the White House. The money raised will benefit advocacy groups such as: All Above All, Cosecha, Hoosier Action, People’s Climate Movement and Southerners on New Ground. Our First 100 Days was started in conjunction with the independent label family, Secretly Group, and 30 Days, 30 Songs, a similar series that spoke out against Trump during the campaign and boasted contributions from Jim James, R.E.M., Death Cab for Cutie and Franz Ferdinand.
Among the other artists set to participate in Our First 100 Days are How to Dress Well, the Range, Mitski, Bully, PWR BTTM, Tim Heidecker, S. Carey, Will Oldham, Beach Fossils, Jens Lekman, Cherry Glazerr, Minus the Bear, Into It. Over It., Torres, Avey Tare, Twin Peaks, Courtney Marie Andrews and Nothing.
Our First 100 Days launches in tandem with Trump’s inauguration, January 20th at 12 p.m. ET. Fans will be able to stream and download every song from the series for a minimum contribution of $30.
