See Kacey Musgraves, Reba Talk Patsy Cline in New ‘American Masters’
On March 4th, PBS will premiere Patsy Cline: American Masters as part of their Women’s History Month programming. Get a first look at the trailer for the new documentary above.
The film features archival footage of Cline herself – including performances and interviews – as well as new interviews with current artists who found inspiration in the late country singer known for massive hits like “Walkin’ After Midnight” and “Crazy.” Rosanne Cash narrates the documentary.
“She came through it, the car wreck, the bad marriage, the poverty that she lived in and having to quit school and go to work,” Reba McEntire says of Cline in the clip. “All of those things made her what she was.”
Other artists offering commentary include Wanda Jackson, Kacey Musgraves, Mickey Guyton, LeAnn Rimes, Rhiannon Giddens, actress Beverly D’Angelo, Thin Lizzy’s Ricky Warwick and Cline’s own daughter Julie Fudge. Willie Nelson, who wrote “Crazy,” appears in an archival interview.
Cline, born in 1932, died in a plane crash on March 5th, 1963, at 30 years old. She would have turned 85 this year.
