Watch Taylor Swift, Zayn Malik’s Anguished ’50 Shades’ Video
Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik experience anger and frustration in the new video for their collaboration “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.” The song appears on the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack.
The Grant Singer-directed video opens with Malik maneuvering his way past paparazzi toward an elevator, where he meets Swift. Anguish between the couple begins, with Malik throwing Polaroids and smashing chinaware and Swift pulling petals off a flower. Far from 50 Shades-level steaminess, the clip shows the heartbreak and anger that arises from a couple’s falling out. The duo shot the video at London’s St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel.
Bleachers’ Jack Antonoff produced and co-wrote the yearning track which has the pair pining for an ex-lover after a breakup. It’s the only new song Swift released in 2016, though she co-wrote hit songs by ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris and country act Little Big Town.
Malik released his debut solo album Mind of Mine last spring, which featured the Number One single “Pillowtalk.” Over the year, he also made guest appearances on songs like Snakehips’ “Cruel,” M.I.A.’s “Freedun” and Chris Brown’s “Back to Sleep” remix.
The Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack will be released on February 10th, just a few days ahead of the Valentine’s Day release date for the film. Tove Lo, Halsey, Kygo, Nicki Minaj and Nick Jonas have also recorded songs for the album.
