Watch OK Go’s Anti-Trump Morrissey Cover on ‘Corden’
OK Go performed a rousing cover of Morrissey‘s politically charged “Interesting Drug” on The Late Late Show With James Corden Wednesday. “There are some bad people on the rise,” sang Damian Kulash with a soft Moz-like warble in his voice, “They’re saving their own skins by/ Ruining other people’s lives.”
The Chicago rock outfit flipped the 1989 indie pop single into a steady rocking anti-Trump anthem packed with crunchy guitar vamps and delicate piano plucks.
Along with their Late Late Show performance, OK Go also released a studio version and video for their “Interesting Drug” cover. The clip compiles a montage of the president-elect’s saddest hits, ranging from the ridiculous (an Eagle snapping at him, his appearance on WWE) to the tragic (the infamous Access Hollywood tape).
The video also ends with a list of organizations and causes that will need volunteers and donations in order to fight a Trump presidency, as well as an important reminder: Vote in 2018 and 2020.
OK Go released their most recent album, Hungry Ghosts, in 2014. Last year they shared their latest music video feat: A manic 4.2-second shot, which was then slowed down to match up with their song, “The One Moment.”
