Watch Michelle Obama Thank President For Being Her ‘Silver Fox’ on ‘Fallon’
Before she leaves the White House, Michelle Obama sat down with Jimmy Fallon to pen a few timely thank you notes on The Tonight Show.
Fallon thanked Obama for giving giving new meaning to “the right to bear arms,” while the First Lady took the opportunity to honor her husband. “Thank you, Barack, for proving you’re not a lame duck – but my very own silver fox.”
Elsewhere, Obama paid tribute to inauguration day, “Or as I like to call it: Let’s Move.” The joke earned a rimshot from Questlove, who was more than willing to ditch his cushy gig and follow Obama around, providing snare-and-cymbal hits at her request.
During an interview with Fallon later, Obama spoke about her plans for life after the White House, including continuing initiatives in children’s health and education, Let’s Move and Reach Higher, as well as expanding her efforts in America and around the globe. Obama also discussed the advice she gave incoming First Lady Melania Trump and the role she and President Obama have in ensuring the smooth transition of power, just as George W. Bush’s family did for them eight years ago.
“Democracy is not about party, it’s not about demonizing the other side,” Obama said. “We’re trying all trying to get stuff done, and we’ve seen that decency and we’re trying to emulate that decency. We’re gonna be supportive to the Trump administration as much as we can be.”
