Margo Price, Cam Lead Bonnaroo’s Country Lineup
Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival has announced the bulk of its 2017 lineup, rolling out a list of nearly seven dozen artists. As befits a festival held on a Tennessee farm, country music will be well-represented, with a handful of acts from nearby Nashville descending on the grounds of the 16-year-old ‘Roo.
Cam, whose “Burning House” earned a Grammy nomination last year, is the most mainstream of the bunch, along with “Hurricane” singer Luke Combs. Fellow Nashville residents Margo Price and Aaron Lee Tasjan are on the bill, too, representing the left-leaning country community from the east side of the Cumberland River. Lukas Nelson, Greensky Bluegrass, Mandolin Orange and the Strumbellas help round out the rootsier side of Bonnaroo’s lineup announcement, with more acts to come during the months leading up to Bonnaroo’s June 8th kickoff.
Launched in 2002 as an addition to America’s jam-band festival circuit, Bonnaroo has diversified its focus during the past decade. Country music – once a rarity, with Old Crow Medicine Show and the Del McCoury Band holding down the meager fort during Bonnaroo’s first year – is now a ‘Roo mainstay, with Sam Hunt, Maren Morris and Chris Stapleton all making stops during recent years.
