For U2, the headlining Bonnaroo spot will be part of the group’s upcoming summer tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their seminal 1987 album, The Joshua Tree. U2 will perform the record in its entirety during the tour, which kicks off May 12th in Vancouver.
As for the other headliners, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will return to Bonnaroo for the first time since 2012 as they spend much of 2017 on the road in support of their latest LP, The Getaway. The Weeknd, meanwhile, will make his first Bonnaroo appearance as he promotes Starboy, while Chance the Rapper will return to the farm for the fourth straight year – even though this is just the second time he’s been on the lineup. After performing in 2014, the Chicago MC returned the following year to guest with Earth, Wind and Fire, Freddie Gibbs and Madlib and appear in the annual SuperJam, while in 2016 he joined J. Cole, Bryson Tiller, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Miguel.
