Billy Corgan Will Release New Music in Cross-Country Tour Videos
Billy Corgan has announced a new project tentatively titled “Thirty Days,” in which he traverses the United States and documents the people and places he encounters in video installments. “There will be new musical pieces, interviews with people, and we’re going tot try to document this journey to come up with some collective vision.”
Corgan said there is “no destination” (as of yet) and the tour is a part of three additional projects in 2017. One of those ideas is a “50 By 50” project: a collection of Corgan’s 50 favorite songs in honor of his 50th birthday on March 17th. With fan input in the list, Corgan will then record the songs for a compilation to be released at the end of 2017.
The Smashing Pumpkins rocker will also work on a covers album and an original album this year. “I am sort of remiss to play new music too soon, so I won’t necessarily be sharing that music, but I’d like to at least talk about some of the process involved,” he said on Facebook Live.
No dates or specific cities have been announced, but Corgan plans to go all over the country, hinting at Southern states like the Carolinas and Louisiana as potential locations.
