Watch Bell Biv DeVoe’s Sleek ‘I’m Betta’ Video
Bell Biv DeVoe saunter through New York City and their hometown Boston in the slick new video for “I’m Betta,” off their upcoming album, Three Stripes.
The track finds the recently reunited new jack swing trio bouncing around an array of locations, from the banks of the East River in NYC and the Charles River in Boston, to beneath the lights of Times Square and in the stairwell of a subway stop on “the T” orange line. The quick-cutting clip fits the effortless flow of Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe, who pack “I’m Betta” with their quintessential mix of R&B hooks and hip-hop bars over a beat from Naughty By Nature’s Kay Gee.
Last September, Bell Biv DeVoe released “Run,” their first song in 15 years. That track and “I’m Betta” will appear on Three Stripes, which arrives Friday, January 27th, and marks the group’s first album since 2001’s BBD.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Bivins said of the group’s new album, “Let’s just accept this for what it is, great music, delivered at a time when someone needed to pull it all together. I think Bell Biv DeVoe are gonna wear that on our sleeve. We’ve got that type of pulse between mainstream America and the streets.”
Three Stripes also arrives alongside The New Edition Story, an extensive three-night biopic about the Boston R&B outfit, which featured all three members of Bell Biv DeVoe, plus Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant and Bobby Brown. The first installment airs tonight, January 24th, at 9 p.m. ET on BET.
