See Jake Owen’s Paint-Splattered, WTF ‘Seafoam Green’ Video
Jake Owen previously put his considerable comedic gifts on display in the Hanukkah skit for Jimmy Kimmel and a track extolling the joys of putt-putt golf. The “American Country Love Song” singer’s latest foray into funny is all about his favorite color, “Seafoam Green,” and comes with an appropriately insane video.
Borrowing a page from the amped-up chant rap of the Lonely Island’s lark “I’m on a Boat,” Owen is joined by Ryan Hurd and multi-media producers Austin and Colin (of That’s Classic Media) for enthusiastic riffs on an often misunderstood, frequently confused shade. “No matter where I go, no matter where I’m seen, I can guarantee I’m always rockin’ seafoam green,” he asserts, sporting head to toe seafoam green sweats and driving his VW bus. Hurd throws in a surprisingly deft verse about being handed down his grandma’s old Buick, while Austin and Colin (who had a viral hit with their “Welcome to Nashville” video) add goofy, robotic raps of their own. To top it all off, Chase Rice drops by to douse Owen in buckets of seafoam green paint.
Owen’s fifth full-length album American Love arrived in July 2016 and includes the chart-topping hit “American Country Love Song” as well as “If He Ain’t Gonna Love You,” a collaboration with Chris Stapleton.
