Watch Kiesza’s Guitar Tricks in Joyous ‘Dearly Beloved’ Video
Canadian dance-pop singer Kiesza showcases two kinds of guitar licks – both musical and physical – in her joyous video for her new single “Dearly Beloved.” Director Supple Nam takes a bare-bones approach, filming the singer-songwriter as she dances around an empty, white room armed only with her axe. Kiesza also unleashes some Hendrix-like showmanship, playing the guitar behind her head and while lying on the floor.
The musician dedicated the pop-soul track to her late friend Alice, who passed along the guitar. “In her memory and because I love her so much, I promised myself that I would not let it sit in its case collecting dust,” she wrote of the instrument. “I was going to play the hell out of it, just as she would have done. So that’s what I’m doing. Inspired by her and all of you, I am absolutely ecstatic to be able to start off this new chapter with my new song, ‘Dearly Beloved.'”
Kiesza broke out in 2014 with her Hideaway EP and its eponymous hit single, following later that year with her debut LP, Sound of a Woman. Since then, she’s featured on tracks by Joey Bada$$ (“Teach Me”), Skrillex and Dipole’s Jack Ü (“Take Ü There”) and Duran Duran (“Last Night in the City”).
