See CJ Solar’s Rowdy ‘Just Another Day in the Country’ Video
Southern rocker CJ Solar knows that it’s often the simple things in life that count the most. And for his new single, “Just Another Day In the Country,” he treats an ordinary weekend of backwoods fun like the vacation of a lifetime.
A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Solar’s style is all ass-kicking guitars and dirt-under-your-nails realness, and a video for “Just Another Day” shows exactly where he gets those values.
“I wrote ‘Just Another Day In the Country’ at my bass player’s camp house down in Mississippi where we go to hunt, fish and get off the grid,” says Solar, who has also penned songs for Jerrod Niemann and Justin Moore. “We wanted to write a song about what we were doing – gettin’ out and having a good time in the country.”
A solid, say-what-you-mean jam, “Just Another Day In the Country” isn’t about breaking new musical ground – it’s about knowing who you are and making no apologies. Playing up his redneck bona fides, Solar embraces his vision of country cool, singing, “I guess we’re all James Dean.” The video, directed by Keith Johnson, shows Solar and his buddies right in their element and at the peak of their redneck James Dean aspirations – out on the farm with enough cold cans, shotgun shells and power chords to go all night.
“We just brought a bunch of guitars and beer out to a field, set up and played, threw a bonfire party and filmed the whole day,” he explains. “All the people in the video are my good friends – not actors.”
“Just Another Day In the Country” is included on Solar’s debut EP, Hard One to Turn Down.
