Hear Alicia Keys, Kaytranada’s Upbeat ‘Sweet F’in Love’
Alicia Keys partnered with budding Haitian-Canadian producer Kaytranada for a lithe and sensual new song, “Sweet F’in Love.” Keys glides over the dance track Kaytranada lays down. The song shimmers with a subtle disco influence, laden with piano and bass.
“Sweet F’in Love” marks another new song for Keys following the release of her eighth album, Here, last November. The album boasted a gritty, eclectic sound with politically charged lyrics, which Keys discussed during an interview with Rolling Stone.
“I’ve always been inspired by Curtis Mayfield, Nina Simone, Marvin Gaye, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Bob Marley, but I didn’t quite know how to do that in the beginning,” she said. “I didn’t understand how to put it into words, or I just didn’t have access to the emotion or the confidence or the clarity or the ballsiness. The difference is time.”
As for Kaytranada, the producer released his breakout debut LP, 99.9%, last year, and has offered a steady stream of new music and remixes since. He recently shared re-workings of Chance the Rapper’s “All Night” and Solange’s “Cranes In the Sky,” while last May he offered a dreamy remix of Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better.”
