Watch John Legend’s Soulful ‘Love Me Now’ Duet on ‘The Voice’
John Legend teamed with Voice finalist Wé McDonald to perform his soulful single “Love Me Now” during the show’s Season 11 finale. While Legend grounded the romantic tune by crooning the main melody, McDonald showcased her range with a series of wordless vocal runs and alternated between lead and harmony vocals.
“Love Me Now” highlights Legend’s recently released fifth album Darkness and Light, which producer Blake Mills called the singer’s “manifesto.” The LP, which veers between political and personal tunes, features guest spots from Miguel, Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard, Chance the Rapper and Kamasi Washington.
Last month, Legend released an intimate video for “Love Me Now,” co-starring his wife, Chrissy Teigen, and daughter.
The Voice‘s Season 11 finale included an eclectic guest list of performers, including Stevie Wonder and Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars, the Weeknd and Sting. Kelly Clarkson performed a duet of Hamilton‘s “It’s Quiet Uptown” with eventual Voice runner-up Billy Gilman, and KISS delivered an instrument-smashing medley of “Rock and Roll All Nite” and “Detroit Rock City” alongside Voice winner Sundance Head.
