Hear Flaming Lips’ Kaleidoscopic ‘We A Famly’ With Miley Cyrus
Wayne Coyne reunited with frequent collaborator Miley Cyrus on the Flaming Lips‘ “We a Famly,” the closing song on the band’s upcoming LP Oczy Mlody.
Like the album’s other tracks “The Castle,” “Sunrise (Eyes of the Young)” and “How??,” “We a Famly” is a kaleidoscopic, trippy sojourn into the Flaming Lips‘ sonic world. “It’s been a long, cold winter/ Feels like it’s been forever, yeah/ We’re both travelin’,” Coyne sings. “I’m somewhere south of Wichita/ You’re somewhere up there under the moon/ I can’t you see.”
On the second verse, Cyrus takes over to sing “We A Famly” from her perspective – “You’re somewhere south of Wichita/ I’m somewhere up there under the moon” – while also delivering the track’s booming chorus. During the final coda, the Dead Petz collaborators sing together as the music swirls around them to close out both the track and Oczy Mlody, which arrives on January 13th.
