Watch Bon Iver’s Epic ’22, a Million’ Concert in Brooklyn
Earlier this month, Bon Iver performed a series of ten shows in New York City to promote his latest album, 22, a Million. One of these was filmed by NPR, and the 66-minute video of the concert was made available to stream in its entirety.
The Wisconsin-native focused on his new material during the show, playing most of the mottled, electronic, angelic tracks from 22, a Million, bathed in a fog that alternated between bright green, purple and red. He also included a sprinkling of oldies in his set list: “Heavenly Father,” which appeared on the soundtrack for the 2014 movie Wish I Was Here, a pair of songs from the 2011 Grammy award-winning album Bon Iver, Bon Iver, one from the 2009 EP Blood Bank and one from 2007’s For Emma, Forever Ago.
The first five of Bon Iver’s shows – including the one documented by NPR – took place at the Pioneer Works gallery in Red Hook, Brooklyn. (Bon Iver is a member of the organization’s advisory board.) Following his short residency there, Bon Iver played a pair of shows each at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan and the Kings Theater in Brooklyn. He closed the series with a gig at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, also in Brooklyn.
22, a Million debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard albums chart.
