SiriusXM will broadcast exclusive New Year’s Eve concerts from Maroon 5, the Countdown Festival (featuring Diplo and Steve Aoki), Willie Nelson, Widespread Panic, KC & the Sunshine Band, Kool & the Gang and more. The performances will air on genre-specific channels, like the Countdown Festival on EDM-focused Electric Area and Widespread Panic on jam-tailored Jam_ON.
The year-end lineup also includes special encore broadcasts of concerts that aired throughout 2016, including Coldplay, Kings of Leon, Dead & Company, Green Day, Korn, the Lumineers, Bon Jovi, Kenny Chesney, Billy Idol and Garth Brooks, who launched his own SiriusXM channel, The Garth Channel, at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
SiriusXM will also celebrate New Year’s Eve with a limited-run “party music” channel, New Year’s Nation, launching Friday, December 30th at 5 p.m. ET and running through Monday, January 2nd at 3 a.m. ET. Available on channel 18, along with the XM app and website, the station will feature “party hits” from genres across the entire platform.
In addition to live music, SiriusXM will present countdown specials highlighting the year’s biggest songs. Various channels will dig deeper with “all-time best” countdowns, including “The Top 100 Songs From the Cassette Era” (Classic Rewind), “The Top 20 Albums from 1971” (Classic Vinyl) and “The 13 Most Influential Drummers in Rock and Roll” (Deep Tracks), hosted by former Pink Floyd percussionist Nick Mason.
